Ever since I was a little kid, I have been very interested in the idea of making something new out of something that exists. It started by reusing old greeting cards to make my own or painting over existing drawings and letting some pieces of the original shine through.

I had a group that I would do daily collages with at my work and it was such a great way to end the day; just let the materials that you find influence the results. No overthinking, just feeling and experimenting. These are examples from that time along with examples from more recent times.
